Topic: Meaning Of Holiness
Text: 1 Peter 1:13-16
13Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
14As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
15But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
16Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
Key Verse: “Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.” 1 Peter 1:16
Message
God is holy. It is difficult for sinful people to understand the full meaning of holiness. To be holy means to be without sin, completely pure and clean. But holiness is much more than just being without sin. Holiness is also having a love so great that it cannot be measured (Romans 8:39), mercy that never ends (Luke 1:50), and faithfulness that never fails (Psalm 36:5). Yet, holiness is even more that that! Holiness is all that God is. God wants us to be like Him and even though we are surrounded by imperfection here on earth, we can follow the example of Jesus by living like He did.
God wants us to be like Him. This is the reason He gave us Jesus Christ to show us the way to live a holy life. Many examples are in the Bible of people who accepted the word of God and lived a holy life. These include – Peter, Paul, Barnabas, Elisabeth, Mary, the mother of Jesus, Mary and Martha, Luke, Zecharias and lots more. A holy life will bear the fruit of the Spirit namely love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance. To be holy, a sinner must first repent and accept Jesus as personal Saviour and Lord. Then he will pray and ask for the sanctification of his heart.

Prayer for today: Make me holy oh Lord.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
