DCLM Higher Everyday 10 December 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Meditate For Manifestation
Topic: Meditate For Manifestation
Text: Matthew 1:18-20
18Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
20But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
Key Verse: “But while he thought on these things behold, the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost” (Matthew 1:20).
Message
In our text, Joseph the husband of Mary could not understand how his wife became pregnant before they came together as husband and wife. The only logical conclusion he could make was that she must have committed fornication. Hence, he wanted to put her away secretly. But while Joseph meditated on these matters, God sent an angel to him in a dream to clarify this issue that troubled his mind. By meditation, Joseph was able to understand that the pregnancy Mary had was the supernatural act of God.

Meditation is the act of focusing the thought on a given object of concern in order to gain insight and clarity. Meaningful meditation can only be achieved through discipline. One way a Christian youth can gain spiritual depth and strength in Christ is through the practice of daily meditation on the word of God (Joshua 1:8). It draws one closer to God and provides insight into the deep and secret things of the Father. Like Joseph, prayerful meditation will give Christian youths divine revelations for handling tough issues of life.

Challenge: Meditate on God’s word.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
