Topic: Mutual Humility
Text: Acts 10:24-27
24And the morrow after they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius waited for them, and had called together his kinsmen and near friends.
25And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.
26But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.
27And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many that were come together.
Key Verse: “And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him. But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man” (Acts 10:25, 26).
Message
The word “mutual” means something that is evenly shared between two people. Our text clearly shows us what it means to be humble and how such gestures should be reciprocated. Cornelius, an ardent seeker of the truth of the gospel showed honour and reverence to Peter being an Apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ. Peter never took advantage of that to assume he was higher than a fellow servant of Christ. He simply held him to stand up.

We are all fellow labourers in Christ’s vineyard. Many youths quickly get carried away by the spiritual gifts or financial favour that they possess and thereby begin to see others as lower than they are. The early church members demonstrated love among one another and shared things together. It behoves us as Christian youths to honour all men, share willingly and seek the growth of others in Christ and in life in general. Pray for the love of God in your heart so that you can love and share with the brethren.
Quote: Seek the growth of others in Christ
Challenge: Mutual humility breeds love.
Prayer for today: Father, help me to radiate godly humility.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
