BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Matthew 27:1-66 , Leviticus 15-17
MESSAGE:
Tomorrow is Valentines Day and there is so much noise in the air already. You may even have a date already or bought a gift for your val. I would like you to take a chill pill first and ask yourself these questions: Why am I giving the fellow a gift? Why am I celebrating Vals day? What is Val’s day about? If you can answer those questions truthfully, I would like you to ask yourself again, is it worth it?
Many people celebrate Vals day without even knowing the meaning and why. There are different stories of who St. Valentine was and how Valentines Day became a yearly celebration. However, it is tagged lovers day and many people are defiled in the spirit of this celebration. My child, are you giving that gift to that boy/girl tomorrow because he/she is your lover? If he/she asks you for sex, would you succumb? Remember, you are a child of God and you are to flee any form of sexual sin. If you have so much to give out, give to the needy around you, not in the name of Valentine’s Day.
Let the wisdom of God guide you.
KEY POINT:
If Valentines Day is about showing love to people, then, every day should be Valentines Day.
HYMN: IN CHRIST ALONE
- In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All - In Christ alone, who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
‘Til on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid - There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of - No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life’s first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
Till He returns or calls me home

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
