TOPIC: Lust Kills [Open Heaven for Teens 19 February 2022]
MEMORISE: Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 2 Timothy 2:22
READ: 1 John 2:16-17 (KJV)
- For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
- And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Mark 3:1-35, Numbers 1-2
MESSAGE:
Lust is a strong craving or desire, often of L a sexual nature. It is a violation of Gods perfect will because it redirects people from God and His plans for mankind, to their own selfish desires. Having an attraction towards someone at first sight is not a sin but when you keep thinking about the persons appearance or the shape of his/her body, then that is lust and it can lead to fornication. For example, David saw Bathsheba bathing from the rooftop. He looked on while she was having her bath, nurtured his lust and eventually committed adultery with her. If you give lust a little space in your heart, it will take over the whole of your life and in no time, you would commit a sexual sin.
Beloved, for you to conquer lust, you must guard your heart diligently so that the actions that your thoughts produce will lead to commendation before God and not condemnation. The only way to achieve this is by meditating on God’s word constantly; it will help you to see everyone, (especially the opposite sex) and everything, as God does.
KEY POINT:
You can’t stop the opposite sex from walking around but you can guard your heart from lusting after them.
HYMN; Stand Up, Stand Up For Jesus
- Stand up! stand up for Jesus
Ye soldiers of the cross!
Lift high His royal banner;
It must not suffer loss.
From vict’ry unto vict’ry
His army shall He lead,
Till every foe is vanquished,
And Christ is Lord indeed. - Stand up! stand up for Jesus,
the trumpet call obey;
Forth to the mighty conflict,
In this His glorious day;
Ye that are men now serve Him
against unnumbered foes;
let courage rise with danger,
and strength to strength oppose. - Stand up! stand up for Jesus,
stand in his strength alone;
The arm of flesh will fail you,
Ye dare not trust your own:
put on the gospel armour,
And watching unto prayer;
where duty calls, or danger,
be never wanting there. - Stand up! stand up for Jesus,
The strife will not be long;
this day the noise of battle,
the next the victor’s song:
to him that overcometh
A crown of life shall be;
He with the King of glory
shall reign eternally.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
