TOPIC: PARTAKERS OF HIS DIVINE NATURE
TEXT: 2 PETER 1:3-9
4Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
5And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
Key Verse: “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust” (2 Peter 1:4).
MESSAGE:
A sinner is corrupt in nature, but when he repents, asks for pardon and cleansing of his sins, he becomes a new creature. As a new creature, he must strive to put on Christ’s divine nature.
The divine nature is a perfect nature that is flawless and pure. Christ’s divine nature makes him to be obedient, humble, pure, meek, loving, kind, caring, faithful, merciful, gentle and everything that is good.
If you regularly attend church, recite memory verses, sing in the choir or do other things, yet you get angry, keep malice, envy others or don’t forgive easily, then you need Jesus. He wants you to turn from your bad ways and repent today. Then pray that God should make your heart holy and pure.
Jesus has prayed for your sanctification. Stop being a baby Christian, desire to be like your Saviour. Come to Him in sincerity of heart and He will stamp His image on you so that you can become a partaker of His divine nature.
Prayer: Lord, please stamp thine own image deep on my heart.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
