Topic: Partnering For Prayers

Text: Daniel 2:13-22

13And the decree went forth that the wise men should be slain; and they sought Daniel and his fellows to be slain.

14Then Daniel answered with counsel and wisdom to Arioch the captain of the king’s guard, which was gone forth to slay the wise men of Babylon:

15He answered and said to Arioch the king’s captain, Why is the decree so hasty from the king? Then Arioch made the thing known to Daniel.

16Then Daniel went in, and desired of the king that he would give him time, and that he would shew the king the interpretation.

17Then Daniel went to his house, and made the thing known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions:

18That they would desire mercies of the God of heaven concerning this secret; that Daniel and his fellows should not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.

19Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.

20Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his:

21And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:

22He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.

Key Verse: “That they would desire mercies of God of heaven concerning this secret; that Daniel and his fellows should not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon” (Daniel 2:18).

Message

When we pray, we make our desires known to God. Charles Spurgeon taught that, “A true prayer is an inventory of needs, catalogue of necessities, an exposure of secret wounds, a revelation of hidden poverty.” The Bible is replete with God’s answers to corporate prayers of His people. Jesus says, “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them” (Matthew 18:20).

The youths, in our text, were confronted with a formidable decree of death by an angry King, Nebuchadnezzar. Young Daniel knew that only God could stop the king from killing all the wise men. He proclaimed a corporate prayer with his three faithful Hebrew friends. “Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision.” God still reveals secrets and hidden wisdom to those who seek Him today. When your burden seems too heavy for you, tell it to fellow faithful believers. Pray with them over it. God will answer your prayer. Set time to fellowship with God in united prayer with believers. Do you also pray with your family?

Quote: Tell it to fellow faithful believers

Challenge: Who supports you in prayer in tough times?

Prayer for today: Lord, help me to choose a faithful prayer partner.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
