DCLM Higher Everyday 17 July 2025 — Passion For The Unsaved

DCLM Higher Everyday 17 July 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Passion For The Unsaved

Topic: Passion For The Unsaved

Text: Romans 9: 1-8

1I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost,

2That I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart.

3For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh:

4Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises;

5Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.

6Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:

7Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.

8That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.

Key Verse: “I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost, That I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart” (Romans 9:1-2)

Message

In 1869, Fanny J. Crosby was inspired to write “Rescue the Perishing” after she visited a New York City mission where men were housed. She earnestly pleaded with them to seek God’s grace. One young man approached her, expressing his desire to see his mother in heaven but feeling unworthy due to his wayward life. After fervent prayer, he accepted God’s grace. That night, Crosby wrote:

Rescue the perishing care for the dying

Snatch them in pity from sin and the grave

Weep o’er the erring one lift up the fallen

Tell them of Jesus the Mighty to save.

Passion is the driving force to see souls saved. “Lord, give me souls or take my soul” was the heart cry of George Whitefield. Passion compels Christians to sacrifice everything necessary for the salvation of others. Fervent prayers, tireless journeys, tears shed, hardship endured for the souls of men is a measure of our passion for the lost. Do you have a craving to evangelize? Let us reach out to the lost with the love of Christ to sinners around us.

Quote: Let us reach out to the lost

Challenge: Can you hear the sinners’ heart cry?

Prayer for today: Lord, help me to recover my lost tears for sinners.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
