Text: Luke 14:25-30
25And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said unto them,
27And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
28For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?
29Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him,
30Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.
Key Verse: “For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him” (Luke 14:28-30).

The general assertion that failure to plan is planning to fail has remained a valid statement that is applicable in every undertaking of life. Planning in management refers to what steps to be taken to achieve a task. Planning provides direction for action. It creates goals and blueprints for completing a project or task. And you know, “Goals are dreams with a deadline and an action plan,” says Shiv Khera.
The Lord Jesus, the Master Builder and Planner, revealed the necessity of planning and goal setting in His earthly teachings. Researches in management studies have no other alternative formula to this basic truth that those who desire success must make adequate plan for its realization. The youths that desire to have the best grades in their final year exams to secure scholarships to study in top universities or to secure admissions to study desirable courses in prestigious universities must make planning a priority. In addition, they must have practicable study time tables and moderate television watching habits. As the year draws to a close, what are your plans for the future?
Quote: Planning provides direction
Challenge: Have a practicable time table for study.
Prayer for today: Heavenly Father, grant me wisdom to plan, in Jesus’ name.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
