DCLM Higher Everyday 21 October 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Planning With Christ’s Permission
Topic: Planning With Christ’s Permission
Text: 1Corinthians 16:5-9
5Now I will come unto you, when I shall pass through Macedonia: for I do pass through Macedonia.
7For I will not see you now by the way; but I trust to tarry a while with you, if the Lord permit.
8But I will tarry at Ephesus until Pentecost.
9For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.
Key Verse: “For I will not see you now by the way; but trust to tarry a while with you, if the Lord permit” (1Corinthians 16:7).
Message
The Lord is the ruler over man’s plans. He does have works for us both in the church and in the world to do. We must plan accordingly, and include God in our plans. God thinks and knows everything about His children. James condemns any form of planning that excludes God. The apostle said, “For that ye ought to say, if the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that” (James 4:15). You cannot do anything without God. He is omniscient and has the capacity and resources to control our destiny. We should believe God to achieve His plan through prayer to pull everything together successfully.

Being patient during a dark time could be a difficult task but we should not run ahead of God even at such a time. Step into your tomorrow with God at the centre of your affairs. Depend on Him for guidance and direction. God is faithful to His word; so have faith in Him in your planning and undertakings in life. He will not disappoint you if you honour Him by allowing Him to lead you.
Quote: Depend on Him for guidance
Challenge: You can’t do it alone.
Prayer for today: Lord, help me to always plan with you.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
