Topic: Position Your Light Properly
Text: Matthew 5:14-16
14Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Key Verse: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven” (Mathew 5:16).
Message
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine;
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine;
This little light of mine I’m gonna let it shine,
Let it shine! Let it shine! Let it shine!
We all love this song, growing up.
We occupy a prime place in the heart of Jehovah El-Shaddai as little lights here and there. As Jesus lightened the world with great light (Mathew 4:16), so we should follow His steps. The people saw that He was the way, the truth, and the life. So we must be in this dark world, live and lead others to the Way. Believers are expected to preach and persuade others to believe on the Lord for their salvation. They will be forever grateful if you contribute to their knowing the Lord. Ensure that in your school fellowship or in the church in your community, you are committed to serving the Lord and the brethren with a pure heart. Your life should support what you preach to others, so that your message can serve as light and hope to them.
Quote: Follow His steps
Challenge: Be a beacon of light for others to see.
Prayer for today: Lord, make me a bright and shining light.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
