Topic: Possibilities Of Faith
Text: Mark 9:17-27
18And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not.
19He answereth him, and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me.
20And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straightway the spirit tare him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming.
21And he asked his father, How long is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, Of a child.
22And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us.
23Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
24And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
25When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.
26And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead.
27But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose.
Key Verse: “Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe all things are possible to him that believeth” (Mark 9:23).
Message
Challenges and difficulties are part of life experiences; only the dead are free of them, but Christian youths have a brighter hope in all situations. Our God specializes in upturning impossibilities as with Him all things are always possible. Therefore, Christian youths should delete the word “impossible” from their dictionaries to experience accelerated success by faith in God.
Little David had his faith in God. He confronted and conquered Goliath, the biggest threat and enemy of the whole nation of Israel. Whatever threatens your life, be it examination failure, gaining admission to an institution of higher learning, recurring health challenge, financial difficulty, persecution, or bereavement, you will surely conquer them. Exercise unshakeable faith in the written Word of God. Remember that God is interested in you and your progress.
So, why worry, Christian youth? Cast your care upon Him, for He will surely take care of you. Join the army of the heroes of faith today by believing in the possibilities of faith. However, if you are not yet a believer, you need to do so for God to become your Helper.
Quote: He will surely take care of you
Challenge: Be like Little David who conquered Goliath by faith.
Prayer for today: Oh Lord, increase my faith.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
