DCLM Higher Everyday 10 August 2025 — Praise God For His Power

DCLM Higher Everyday 10 August 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Praise God For His Power

Topic: Praise God For His Power

Text: Psalms  107:29-37

29He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.

30Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven.

31Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

32Let them exalt him also in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders.

33He turneth rivers into a wilderness, and the watersprings into dry ground;

34A fruitful land into barrenness, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein.

35He turneth the wilderness into a standing water, and dry ground into watersprings.

36And there he maketh the hungry to dwell, that they may prepare a city for habitation;

37And sow the fields, and plant vineyards, which may yield fruits of increase.

Key Verse: “Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men” (Psalm 107:31)!

Message

Since the dawn of the universe, created beings have stood in awe of the creative genius of God. At the commencement, sons of God burst forth in spontaneous praise (Job 38:7), and at the end, we find them bow in reverential worship (Revelation 4:11). On the day of Pentecost, when 120 disciples were filled with the Holy Ghost, they began to speak in tongues, extoling God’s wonderful works (Acts 2:11). The Bible, in various ways, states that creation itself is a revelation of God’s power. The sun, moon and stars and the material universe are all his handiwork.

How about the redemptive work of God in redeeming man from the fall? When Satan introduced the cancer of decay into God’s creation, God immediately set in motion, a system to reverse the effects of the fall. The wonderful works of God include the incarnation of Jesus, his virgin birth, his life, death, resurrection and ascension. These acts demonstrate God’s love for humanity and his power to save to the uttermost. If you are among the redeemed, praise God for His wonderful works.

Quote: Extolling God’s wonderful works.

Challenge: God is greatly to be praised.

Prayer for today: I will praise the Lord at all times.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
