DCLM Higher Everyday 12 June 2024 — Pray For All Our People

DCLM Higher Everyday 12 June 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. KumuyiPray For All Our People

Topic: Pray For All Our People

Text: 1 Timothy 2:1-8

1I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

2For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

3For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

4Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

5For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

6Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

7Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.

8I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

Key Verse: “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men” (1 Timothy 2:1).

Message

Why pray for all people? Our Bible text gives us the answer. It is for the salvation of all and that we may live a qiet and peaceable life. Men (including women, boys and girls) of all races were made by God who is the God of all.  We need to pray for the salvation of sinners, irrespective of their nationality and race; and open doors for the gospel, especially, in countries that openly legislate against the gospel of Jesus Christ.

We need to ask God to frustrate the agenda of oppressive warmongers who are amassing weapons of mass destruction across the globe, instead of working for peace. Yes, pray for all in authority, including security agents. On this World Day against Child Labour, we should also pray for children who are being abused, especially in developing countries. Instead of being in school, many children are engaged in street hawking, farming, househelp duties, and some are trafficked for dubious purposes. Yet, God’s plan is for their proper growth and development (Psalm 144:12). If you are saved, you must pray for the salvation of all sinners.

Quote: We need to pray

Challenge: Pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands.

Prayer for today: Lord make me an intercessor.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
