DCLM Sincere Milk 18 January 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Pray Without Ceasing – Part 1 (Prayer For Children In War Zones)
Topic: Pray Without Ceasing – Part 1 (Prayer For Children In War Zones)
Text: Genesis 14:8-16
8And there went out the king of Sodom, and the king of Gomorrah, and the king of Admah, and the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (the same is Zoar;) and they joined battle with them in the vale of Siddim;
10And the vale of Siddim was full of slimepits; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, and fell there; and they that remained fled to the mountain.
11And they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their victuals, and went their way.
12And they took Lot, Abram’s brother’s son, who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and departed.
13And there came one that had escaped, and told Abram the Hebrew; for he dwelt in the plain of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner: and these were confederate with Abram.
14And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan.
15And he divided himself against them, he and his servants, by night, and smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus.
16And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.
Key Verse: “And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan.” Genesis 14:14
Message
It appears that from the beginning of the world even till now, men have always engaged in one form of warfare or the other over territories, boundaries, position, power, fame, wealth and the need to be in charge thereby oppressing one another.
As the older folks fight against one another, a lot of children suffer the consequences. Many of the children in such areas are faced with constant fear, loss of parents and siblings, abandonment, starvation, inability to go to school, insecurities, maltreatments and early exposure to vices and all manner of crimes. The fact still remains that Jesus cares for all these children. He does not want any of them to be lost eternally due to troubles that war bring in many nations of the world.

Pray that:
(i) God will show mercy and bring peace in the zones presently experiencing war.
(ii) God will help the children in those places to experience the touch of Christ.
(iii) The Lord will provide for the needs of the children that are affected.
(iv) God will protect them from harm and that His goodness at such a time will lead them to repentance.
(v) God will put His fear in the heart of the rulers so that they will stop the wars.

Prayer for today: Give me the heart that desire to pray for peace in all the nations of the world.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
