DCLM Higher Everyday 17 December 2022 — Privileges of the pure
DCLM Higher Everyday 17 December 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Privileges of the pure
TOPIC: PRIVILEGES OF THE PURE
TEXT: MATTHEW 5:6-9
6Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
7Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
8Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
9Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
MEMORY VERSE: “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God” (MATTHEW 5:8).
MESSAGE:
Sin brings condemnation and guilt in the conscience of sinners and makes them a terror to themselves. Sinners are plagued with secret fears which follow them like their shadows. They know no peace and have no rest.
Freedom from sin is a great miracle. Having received pardon from God, a Christian is free from condemnation. He is justified and adopted into the family of God. As a result, such an individual is entitled to all the privileges of children in God’s kingdom.
Being free from the spirit of bondage to sin and fear since the righteous are bold as a lion, he can now cry, “Abba, Father”. Other privileges include: peace, abiding presence of the Triune God, freedom from all curses and satanic oppression.
Moreover, there is the hope of being like Jesus and seeing Him as He is. Hence the Bible says, “And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure” (1 John 3:3). Purify yourself by drawing closer to God and desiring to be holy with unquenchable thirst and hunger for sanctification.
QUOTE: There is the hope of being like Jesus.
CHALLENGE: A pure heart produces a pure life.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, give me grace to abide in you till the end.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
