DCLM Higher Everyday 29 November 2024 — Read The Holy Writ
DCLM Higher Everyday 29 November 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Read The Holy Writ
Topic: Read The Holy Writ
Text: John 5:36-40
36But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.
38And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.
39Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
40And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.
Key Verse: “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me” (John 5: 39).
Message
“The scriptures were given not to increase our knowledge, but to change our lives,” said D. L. Moody. The Scriptures are the inspired Word and will of God penned down for us by His anointed servants to serve as a guide to us as we journey to heaven, our eternal home. Besides being a guide, the Scriptures contain innumerable promises and privileges that must be discovered and personally claimed by us. These promises and privileges in the Scriptures must be diligently searched out daily.

Although the scriptures are being preached to us almost on a daily basis, deliberate efforts must be made to establish our conviction about God, His will, wonders and works. Read the Bible actively and meditatively to discover God’s purpose in it for our benefit. The Holy Writ provides us with the secrets of spiritual growth, and daily victory over sin. Youths like Timothy, Daniel and Joseph who knew the benefits of the Scriptures were strong believers because they were saturated with the Word of God. Create time to study the Word and pray for it to have a positive impact in your life.

Challenge: Have you read the Holy Bible today?
Prayer for today: Lord, help me to read the Bible to know more about You.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
