DCLM Higher Everyday 29 November 2025 — Reject Sinful Invitations
DCLM Higher Everyday 29 November 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — eject Sinful Invitations
Topic: Reject Sinful Invitations
Text: Proverbs 9:12-18.
12If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.
13A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing.
14For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,
15To call passengers who go right on their ways:
16Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,
17Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.
18But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell.
Key Verse: “Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant. But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell” (Proverbs 9:17, 18).
Message
We are exposed to temptations daily and there are regular invitations to be part of the worldly and sinful lifestyle prevalent in our schools and communities. The social media is replete with stories of youths who make friends with those they meet online. We also have online forums where false doctrines, immorality and other perversions are promoted but we must be wise and avoid them. The wise will only take decisions in the light of the Scriptures and seek counsel from godly parents and leaders. They avoid secret meetings and odd activities that can destroy their Christian life.

Sometimes we are invited to gatherings where we can socialize with others to enhance our social interaction skills. However, any gatherings that could lead to smoking of cigarettes, taking of alcohol or hard drugs, should be shunned by any Christian youth who wants to make heaven at last. Christian youths are to shun every invitation to sin by anyone or through any means so as to escape hell and be with Christ.
Quote: Shun every invitation to sin
Challenge: Say no to sin.
Prayer for today: Lord, help me to say no to any sinful invitation
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
