DCLM Higher Everyday 25 October 2025 — Rescue The Perishing
DCLM Higher Everyday 25 October 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Rescue The Perishing
Topic: Rescue The Perishing
Text: Proverbs 24:8-12
8He that deviseth to do evil shall be called a mischievous person.
9The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men.
10If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.
11If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain;
12If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?
Key Verse: “Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences” (2 Corinthians 5:11).
Message
When man fell into sin in the Garden of Eden, judgment came upon him in form of separation from God. Sin separates the sinner from the protection, love and care of God and exposes him to Satan, danger, a lifetime of sorrow and eternity in hell. God is calling every saved youth, to rescue their unsaved friends and colleagues from sin and its consequences before it is too late through the preaching of the gospel of Christ which comes with saving grace.

We must passionately declare the gospel message to sinners either by preaching directly to them, by tracts or Christian literature distribution, or by invitation to church and school fellowships. Rescuing the sinner is an urgent task. The opportunity we have today to preach to fellow students around us may not be there tomorrow. Our paths may not cross again in life with some of them. So, delay may be dangerous. Besides, no one knows when the rapture will take place. It is a fact of life that youths die even as adults do; hence, the need to reach and rescue the perishing ones without delay.
Quote: Declare the gospel message to sinners
Challenge: Wake up to rescue the perishing.
Prayer for today: Lord, give me passion for the perishing.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
