TOPIC: Rock Of Ages [Open Heaven for Teens 12 March 2022]
MEMORISE: He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved. Psalms 62:2
READ: Psalms 62:5-8
- My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.
- He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.
- In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.
- Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Mark 14:1-72 , Deuteronomy 17-19
MESSAGE:
A rock signifies strength. In ancient days, people lived under rocks, particularly during wars because they were believed to provide strong protection and could not be easily burnt down or blasted into bits. Another good thing about a rock is that it cannot become old, dilapidated or even change, unlike people. Thus when the Psalmist referred to God as his Rock, he knew what he was saying. God can never change because He is the Rock of ages. He is a rock of safety and a shelter for those who trust in Him, because nothing can move Him.
A hymnist wrote: “Rock of Ages, cleft for me, Let me hide myself in thee;” The hymnist wanted to hide himself in the Rock. Why don’t you do the same today? No matter what you are going through at the moment, believe me when I tell you that this Rock is solid, eternal and strong enough to carry whatever is overwhelming or crushing you. Hide in Him.
ACTION POINT:
Unburden your heart to God for 30 minutes today. Tell Him what no one knows about you and how you want Him to change the narrative.
HYMN: O God Our Help In Ages Past
- O God, our help in ages past,
our hope for years to come,
our shelter from the stormy blast,
and our eternal home; - Under the shadow of Thy throne
Thy saints have dwelt secure.
Sufficient is Thine arm alone,
and our defence is sure. - Before the hills in order stood,
or earth received her frame,
from everlasting Thou art God,
to endless years the same. - A thousand ages in Thy sight
are like an evening gone,
short as the watch that ends the
night before the rising sun. - Time, like an ever-rolling stream,
bears all its sons away.
They fly forgotten, as a dream
dies at the opening day. - O God, our help in ages past,
our hope for years to come,
be Thou our guard while troubles last,
and our eternal home.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
