TOPIC: SAVED BY GRACE

TEXT: 1 CORINTHIANS 15:5-10

5 And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:

6 After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.

7 After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles.

8 And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.

9 For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.

10 But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

Key Verse: “But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me” (1 Corinthians 15:10).

MESSAGE:
Apostle Paul, whose name was formerly Saul, was a wicked and an injurious person. Though he had zeal for the religion of his forefathers, he thought he was pleasing God through his persecution of the Church. He even led the team that went from house to house, arresting believers and putting them in prison. It was a particularly trying time for the Church.

Then a glorious day came, as Saul (Paul) was on his way to Damascus to arrest believers, something wonderful happened along the way. Paul had a personal encounter with Jesus, the Lord. He was wonderfully saved from his wicked and sinful acts. He then responded to Jesus’ call to be a “minister” and witness of His grace shown to all sinners.

Because of this, Apostle Paul never failed to show appreciation for God’s grace and mercy unto him. He considered himself to be unworthy of such unmerited favour. He clearly shows us that no sinner can receive salvation outside the grace of God.

Grace is unmerited favour we receive from a loving and caring God. The New Testament emphasizes the theme of God’s grace in the giving of His only Begotten Son on behalf of undeserving sinners. God’s grace provides forgiveness of our sins, acceptance by God and power to do God’s will.

Have you been saved by grace? If not, come to Jesus now and repent of your sins. Ask Him to forgive and wash your heart clean with the blood of Jesus; then accept Jesus as your personal Saviour and Lord. Then go forth like Apostle Paul and call sinners to come and partake of God’s grace.

Prayer: Lord, I thank You for saving me.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
