Text: Ephesians 5:10-13

10Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

11And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

12For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.

13But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.

Key Verse:“For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.” Ephesians 5:12

Message

Young people have nowdeveloped a new kind of friendship. Everyone has a friend with whom he/she talks, laughs and claims to be merry. A term has been coined to describe such friends. They call them “Gist friends.” According to them, a gist friend is a special kind of friend with whom you can share “gossips” or discuss everything about you, even the secrets of your family. Children like to talk, laugh and to hear new things. Yet, our Bible passage teaches us that there are things we should be ashamed to listen to and talk about. We listen and talk in many ways: through spoken words, text, songs, signs, body movements or dance. No friend of Jesus is expected to listen to or talk about immodest things, occultic, and all ungodly practices in the world. This is because the things you listen to, talk about and imitate have a quick way of corrupting your good manners.

Prove what is acceptable unto the Lord. Don’t have fellowship or make friends with evil children. Don’t sing their songs or dance in their worldly ways and don’t imitate their evil behaviours.

Prayer for today: Lord, teach me to hate the ways of the wicked and help me never to listen to or share in their ungodly conversations.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
