DCLM Sincere Milk 22 March 2024 — Seek Good
DCLM Sincere Milk 22 March 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Seek Good
Topic: Seek Good
Text: Amos 5:11-15
11Forasmuch therefore as your treading is upon the poor, and ye take from him burdens of wheat: ye have built houses of hewn stone, but ye shall not dwell in them; ye have planted pleasant vineyards, but ye shall not drink wine of them.
13Therefore the prudent shall keep silence in that time; for it is an evil time.
14Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the LORD, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken.
15Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that the LORD God of hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.
Key Verse: “Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the LORD, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken.” Amos 5:14
Message
God’s instruction is clear: “Seek good and not evil.” That is, do right and not wrong. But the children of Israel chose to worship idols, cheat the poor and became very sinful. They provoked God with their evil doings. God gave them time to repent, but they refused. While they were on the way, He had warned them that if they got to this good land and began to do the same things like the people they would meet there, He would equally punish them. (Deuteronomy 30:17,18) Yet, the children of Israel did not listen to God’s warning. Therefore, God punished them. We should pray for repentance and revival among members of our families and nations to escape the punishment of God.
The counsel of God has not changed; practise what is good and run away from what is sinful. Consider where you go, what you think, what you watch, what you browse and what you say. Let all your thoughts and actions please God. Then you will enjoy long life, God’s presence, protection and divine provision.

Prayer for today: Lord, help me to follow and do what is godly before You always
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
