DCLM Higher Everyday 11 March 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Seeking Healing For The Sick
Topic: Seeking Healing For The Sick
Text: John 11:1-5
1Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.
3Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick.
4When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.
5Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.
Key Verse: “Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick” (John 11:3).
Message
Sickness and afflictions cause pain and discomfort. Their sources vary from evil spirits, poor feeding, food poison, lack of adequate rest and exercise. It is never the will of God for any of His children to be sick. He promises and provides power for all believers to heal the sick and remain healthy all year round. Sicknesses not cured in time may lead to death. That is why you must speak out when you feel unwell.

Lazarus, the brother of Mary and Martha was sick, they sent for Jesus to come and heal him. That was a very right step to take. When any is sick you must invite Jesus by prayer in His name (John 14:13, 14). You can also invite Christian leaders to pray for them. However, it is good to tell the sick to repent of any known sin. The prayer of faith will heal the sick (James 5:15, 16). Consulting health professionals is alright. Seek and heed their advice. A medic’s motto reads: “Doctors treat but God heals.” God still heals as of old.
Quote: Invite Christian leaders to pray for them
Challenge: Lift the faith of those sick to be healed.
Prayer for today: O God, heal the sick in my Church and family in Jesus’ name.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
