DCLM Sincere Milk 9 August 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Separated For God’s Use
Topic: Separated For God’s Use
Text: Acts 13:1-5
2As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.
3And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.
4So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.
5And when they were at Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: and they had also John to their minister.
Key Verse: “As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.” Acts 13:2
Message
God is our Creator, He owns everybody in this world. He also sent His only begotten Son, Jesus, to die to I save us from sin and hell fire. So, for every believer, God has double ownership over our lives. He created us and also redeemed our souls. Therefore, He calls us to be separated for His use just as Paul and Barnabas were set apart for His work of taking the gospel to all nations.
These two great apostles were specially called and set apart to spread the gospel from city to city. Immediately they received the call, they both set out to carry out their divine and sacred assignment. When a child repents and becomes a friend of Jesus, he is chosen as a vessel to preach the gospel. This is the reason why Jesus saved you.
Like Paul and Barnabas, your obedience to God’s call must be prompt. Be a diligent and sincere preacher of the gospel. Tell your classmates, peers, neighbours, family members and all the people you come across daily about the love of Jesus. Remember, you have been separated for God’s use. Be a witness for Christ in your conduct, conversation and life styles. God will reward you.

Prayer for today: Lord Jesus, help me to be separated and dedicated for Your use.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
