DCLM Higher Everyday 22 January 2024 — Simple Steps To Salvation
Topic: Simple Steps To Salvation
Text: Romans 10:5-13
5For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them.
7Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)
8But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
12For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
13For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Key Verse: “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” (Romans 10:10)
Message
A preacher has rightly reasoned that, “Many people spun the message of salvation across the world because no cost is attached to it.” So it is. A lot of people – adults, youths and children – have rejected the gift of salvation for ages simply because it is free.
Though the steps to salvation are as simple as A. B. C. Satan makes sinners to believe that they have to work for it. He tells them to engage in religious activities that cannot set them free from sin. They are made to go to the riverside for cleansing, embark on pilgrimage, marathon fasting or to give alms to the poor, do confirmation, etc., to obtain salvation. Salvation is a free gift from God. It is not of works. What are the simple steps to salvation? A-acknowledge your sins and accept that Jesus died for your sins. B-believe on the Lord Jesus and His atoning blood. C-confess your sins to God, forsake them and accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. Jesus has fully paid the price for our salvation.

Challenge: You can take the simple steps now.
Prayer for today: Lord, set the captives of sin free.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
