DCLM Higher Everyday 20 January 2026 — Sing For His Glory

DCLM Higher Everyday 20 January 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Sing For His Glory

Topic: Sing For His Glory

Text: Exodus 15:1-11

1Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the LORD, and spake, saying, I will sing unto the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.

2The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father’s God, and I will exalt him.

3The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name.

4Pharaoh’s chariots and his host hath he cast into the sea: his chosen captains also are drowned in the Red sea.

5The depths have covered them: they sank into the bottom as a stone.

6Thy right hand, O LORD, is become glorious in power: thy right hand, O LORD, hath dashed in pieces the enemy.

7And in the greatness of thine excellency thou hast overthrown them that rose up against thee: thou sentest forth thy wrath, which consumed them as stubble.

8And with the blast of thy nostrils the waters were gathered together, the floods stood upright as an heap, and the depths were congealed in the heart of the sea.

9The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my lust shall be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.

10Thou didst blow with thy wind, the sea covered them: they sank as lead in the mighty waters.

11Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?

Key Verse: “Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the Lord, and spake, saying, l will sing unto the Lord, for He hath triumphed gloriously:
the horse and his rider hath He thrown into the sea” (Exodus15:1).

Message

“The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious…,” said Albert Einstein. The children of Israel experienced the mysterious visitation of God as they conquered their enemies. God is great and wonderful and should be highly praised for the unmerited favours and blessings we receive from Him on a daily basis. Life is a battle ground and not a bed of roses. Sometimes singing may be difficult, but when we put our trust in God like the children of Israel did under the leadership of Moses, we will sing a song of victory at last.

Singing is good, but be careful of the songs you sing. Christians should sing songs that glorify God. Our song should portray the holiness of God. Moses trusted in the Lord despite all the challenges before him. He never gave up. Testimonies await Christians who hold on to God’s unchanging words. God is always good. Your time to sing has come. Learn to put your trust in God. Trusting Him will bring songs of victory, especially to a born-again child of God.

Quote: Learn to put your trust in God

Challenge: Cultivate the attitude of praising God.

Prayer for today: Oh God, help me to praise you always, in Jesus’ name.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
