13A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.

14The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of fools feedeth on foolishness.

15All the days of the afflicted are evil: but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.

Key Verse: “A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.” Proverbs 15:13

Message

Research shows that children smile an average of 400 times per day, compared to the average happy adult who smiles 40-50 times per day. There are some who only smile 20 times per day.

Studies further reveal that smiling releases some chemicals to the brain which make us feel good from head to toe. Not only do they elevate your mood, but they also relax your body and reduce physical pain. Smiling is a natural drug.No wonder the scripture says “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine.”

People who smile appear more likeable, courteous and competent. Smilers tend to be more productive in anything they do. Our Bible passage reveals that “a merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance”. If you want to live healthy and long, start your day with a smile.

Smiling is contagious, and when we smile we activate neurons in the brain which quickly reflect on others. You will notice that one smile will lead to additional smiles not just for you, but for those around you. You can improve the world with one smile at a time.

Prayer for today: Lord, give me grace to put a smile on someone’s face today.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
