DCLM Sincere Milk 12 January 2023 — Stand fast
DCLM Sincere Milk 12 January 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Stand fast
TOPIC: STAND FAST
TEXT: 1 Corinthians 16:9-14
9For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.
10Now if Timotheus come, see that he may be with you without fear: for he worketh the work of the Lord, as I also do.
11Let no man therefore despise him: but conduct him forth in peace, that he may come unto me: for I look for him with the brethren.
12As touching our brother Apollos, I greatly desired him to come unto you with the brethren: but his will was not at all to come at this time; but he will come when he shall have convenient time.
13Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.
14Let all your things be done with charity.
MEMORY VERSE: “Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.” (1 CORINTHIANS 16:13)
MESSAGE:
Paul the Apostle was encouraging the Corinthian brethren to stand fast in the faith.
What does It mean to stand fast? It means to be grounded in the doctrine of Christ to the point that nobody can deceive you or pull you out of what you believe.

A story was told of a girl who belonged to a particular Christian fellowship; she was so grounded in the doctrine that nobody could persuade her to change from what she believed. She obeyed the instruction of her parents and the word of God. Are you like that, do you obey the instruction of your parents? The children of Rechab in Jeremiah 35, obeyed the instruction of Jonadab their father not to drink wine.
If you are a disobedient child you need to repent today, make up your mind like the Rechabites, Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego, Samuel, Timothy, Esther and Paul the Apostle to stand fast in the faith and never allow the temptations of this world to pull you down.

PRAYER FOR TODAY: Lord, uphold me in the faith and help me to stand firm on Your word.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
