Text: Ezekiel 22:29-31
29The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery, and have vexed the poor and needy: yea, they have oppressed the stranger wrongfully.
31Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord GOD.
Key Verse: “And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.” Ezekiel 22:30
Message
Standing in the gap is a spiritual language describing the act of intercessory prayers. It is a call to pray on behalf of someone, a group of people, the church and the nation at large. If there is any time to stand in the gap, it is now. To stand in the gap, you must start with yourself. There is so much trouble and confusion in the world today, it is only heartfelt prayers that can make you to overcome and remain strong. Therefore, spend quality time to pray for yourself. Secondly, stand in the gap for your family – pray for those who are not saved yet. Pray for your father, mother, guardian, brothers, sisters, grandparents and other members of the family.

Other sets of people to intercede for include: (a) Sinful children around you. (b) Your community and nation at large. (c) The church – That God will revive the church that it will continue to stand for righteousness even in this corrupt world. (d) Children in conflict situation – pray for God’s mercy and help in times of trouble. God wants His children to stand in the gap for others. His judgment will soon come on the disobedient and wicked people. Your prayers will go a long way to help the people turn back to God and escape His judge.

Prayer for today: Lord, give me power and courage to stand in the gap and pray for others.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
