DCLM Higher Everyday 29 May 2025 — Stay On Grace, Not Law
DCLM Higher Everyday 29 May 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Stay On Grace, Not Law
Topic: Stay On Grace, Not Law
Text: Galatians 5:1-8
1Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
2Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.
3For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.
4Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
5For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
6For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.
7Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?
8This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you.
Key Verse: “Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace” (Galatians 5:4).
Message
Apostle Paul emphasized the transformative power of grace in his letter to the Galatians. He declared that righteousness comes not through adherence to the law but through faith alone. By God’s grace, we are no longer bound by legalistic requirements. Instead, we live in the freedom granted by grace. This grace is not earned; it is freely given to us by God. When we stay focused on grace, we recognize that our salvation rests on Christ’s sacrifice, not our own efforts. The Scripture tells us in Galatians 2:21, “I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.”

Shift your focus from legalism to grace. The Bible says that we are saved by grace through faith. Friend, if you have been saved, help to extend God’s grace to others. However, grace is not a license to sin; rather, it empowers us to live righteously, motivated by love and gratitude.
Quote: This grace is not earned
Challenge: Don’t use grace as licence for wrongdoing.
Prayer for today: Lord, give me the grace to live righteously.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
