DCLM Higher Everyday 11 December 2024 — Strive To Preach The Word
DCLM Higher Everyday 10 December 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Strive To Preach The Word
Topic: Strive To Preach The Word
Text: 2 Timothy 4:1-8
Key Verse: “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine” (2 Timothy 4:2).
Message
Richard Wurmbrand, in his book, “Tortured for Christ,” wrote as follows: “It was strictly forbidden to preach to other prisoners. It was understood that whoever was caught doing this received a severe beating. A number of us decided to pay the price for the privilege of preaching, so we accepted their [the communists’] terms. It was a deal; we preached and they beat us. We were happy preaching. They were happy beating us, so everyone was happy.” These imprisoned believers determined to obey the Lord’s injunction to preach the gospel though it would cost them persecution.

Similarly, Christian youths must preach the gospel through every opportunity. Make use of tracts and other Christian literature. Reach them with the gospel via social media: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and WhatsApp, to mention but a few. This is Christ’s command. Our world is in darkness because of sin, we must light it up with the gospel. Preach the true gospel to your friends, colleagues, and all around you before it is too late. It is only then you can gain the crown of righteousness prepared for the faithful.
Quote: Christian youths must preach
Challenge: Rescue the perishing souls.
Prayer for today: Father, help me to be committed to preaching the gospel.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
