TOPIC: SUCCESSFUL SOLO OUTREACH
TEXT: ACTS 8:29-39
29 Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.
30 And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?
32 The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:
33 In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.
34 And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?
35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.
36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
39 And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.
MEMORY VERSE: “Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus” (ACTS 8:35).
MESSAGE:
Sometimes, God opens a door of opportunity to His children in unusual places. Philip, through the inspiration and help of the Holy Spirit, preached Jesus Christ to the Ethiopian Eunuch who eventually accepted Jesus and was baptized.
The Holy Spirit provides a guide to believers in the field of personal evangelism to make them effective soul winners. Personal evangelism is a ministry for all believers in Christ and does not require any special ordination for you to be enlisted.
Personal evangelism is the one-on-one preaching of the gospel to our classmates, friends, relatives, and people you meet every day in your neighbourhood. By engaging in personal evangelism, godly youths share the good news of Jesus Christ with others in order to bring them to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour.
Like Philip, obey the promptings of the Holy Spirit and share the gospel with youths who are yet to give their lives to Christ in your class, on your street, and even in the church. Win the lost at any cost. Make sure you are born again before you preach to others.
QUOTE: Win the lost at any cost.
CHALLENGE: I will preach the gospel as a light bearer.
PRAYER: help me to be a gospel light bearer.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
