DCLM Higher Everyday 3 February 2026 — Sure Security

DCLM Higher Everyday 3 February 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Sure Security

Topic: Sure Security

Text: Psalm 91:1-7

1He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

2I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

3Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.

4He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

5Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;

6Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

7A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.

Key Verse: “I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust” (Psalm 91:2).

Message

The mother hen is a wonderful example of sure security in the natural world for her protection and care; shelter and refuge; vigilance and watchfulness over her chicks. As the mother hen provides shelter for her chicks, gathering them under her wings to keep them safe, so God offers us shelter and refuge, inviting us to come to Him for safety and security. The mother hen is constantly vigilant, watching for predators and potential threats to her chicks. Similarly, God is always watchful, protecting us from harm and guiding us through life’s challenges.

‘Sure security’ refers to the protection and safety that come from trusting in God. The passage describes the security that God provides for those who dwell in His presence and trust in Him. God’s truth in His only begotten Son Jesus Christ, serves as a shield and buckler, defending us against harm. As a child of God, you are promised protection from harm, even when surrounded by danger. ‘Sure security’ according to Psalm 91:1-7 is protection, safety, and freedom from fear as we trust God and dwell in His presence.

Quote: You are promised protection from harm

Challenge: God is your sure security.

Prayer for today: Lord, surround me with Your presence and protect me from harm.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
