Topic: Teens’ Issues, Part 2 – Purity In Puberty
Text: 1 Thessalonians 4:1-5
1Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.
2For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.
3For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:
4That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;
5Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:
Key Verse: “For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication” (1 Thessalonians 4:3).
Message
Puberty is an important stage in teens’ lives where physical, emotional, and social developments occur. During this period, the body undergoes numerous changes, preparing the individuals for adulthood. As a youth, puberty is God’s plan for your overall wellbeing. However, if not carefully managed, it could ruin one’s life goals and lead to an unpleasant end. God commands us to be pure in heart and abstain from all forms of defilement as they have grave consequences.

As challenging as puberty can be, every teenager can stay on track and triumph gloriously. Flee youthful lust, abstain from all appearance of evil, set boundaries between you and the opposite gender, embrace positive thoughts, focus on your set goals and priorities, read the Bible, pray daily and seek counsel when unclear about certain issues. If you are a student in a school, you can consult your school counsellor for help. In conclusion, daily fellowship with God grants you ultimate victory over the flesh and helps you to present your body a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God.
Quote: Purity during puberty is possible
Challenge: Only the pure in heart shall see God.
Prayer for today: Dear Lord, help me to daily live a pure life.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
