Text: Hebrews 12:1-4
2Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
3For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.
4Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

Message
The dictionary defines an author as a person who composed a book, article or other written work. He could also be referred to as the originator or creator of an idea or a thing. Other words that have the same meaning as author include creator, architect, designer, originator, producer, inventor and maker. All these words fitly describe Who Jesus is to us. As the Author of life, Jesus is our Creator and Maker. He made us in His own image and likeness. He desires that we be like Him so as to live with Him eternally in heaven at last. Also, He is our Provider because He has made all things available for us to live a comfortable life.
As the Author of our faith, Jesus laid down His life on the cross to save us from sin. He alone is the Author of eternal life. He is the Finisher of our faith because everything that ought to be done to reconcile us to God, He has done it on the cross. In concluding the work of our salvation, Jesus cried out on the cross saying “It is Finished!” All that you need to know about the Author and Finisher of our faith is in the Bible – Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth. Jesus Christ is the Author of the Bible. Accept Him as your personal Saviour and Lord. Make it a daily duty to read your Bible, meditate on its word and live by it.

Prayer for today: Lord, I surrender to You, be the Author and Finisher of my faith.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
