TOPIC: The Book For All Ages (DCLM Daily Manna 7 April 2025)
KEY VERSE: “Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost” (2 Peter 1:20,21).
TEXT: 2 Peter 1:17-21 (KJV)
17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.
19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:
The hymn, The Bible Stands, by Haldor Lillenas, captures the importance of the Bible in our world today. “The Bible stands like a rock undaunted, ‘Mid the raging storms of time; Its pages burn with the truth eternal, And they glow with a light sublime. The Bible stands tho’ the hills may tumble, It will firmly stand when the earth shall crumble; I will plant my feet on its firm foundation, For the Bible stands.” The Bible is a book that does not grow old or get outdated. It needs no re-editing or revision. It is a book for all ages.

Reflecting on our reading today, Apostle Peter tries to separate the scriptures from other books. He reminds his readers of his eyewitness account on the Mount of Transfiguration, where the Father spoke and called Jesus His only begotten Son. He further testifies that the writing of the scriptures and other prophetic truths came through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
Peter was a credible witness who followed the Lord Jesus throughout the three and a half years of His ministry on earth. He was in the garden with the Lord and saw what happened on the cross. He felt the pain of his denial of the Saviour, and on the day of Pentecost, he experienced the refreshing presence of the Holy Spirit. No matter what doubters say, Peter believes in the credibility of the Scripture as a book that God sent to man in every age and every place. Significantly, Peter describes the Scripture as a more sure word of prophecy.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
