Topic: The Call Of Abram

Text: Genesis 12:1-5

1Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:

2And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:

3And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

4So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.

5And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother’s son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came.

Key Verse: “Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee.” Genesis 12:1

Message

Abram was living a comfortable life. He was married, he had servants and the weather was great! However, God had a much bigger plan for Abram and to put that plan into action, He needed Abram to get up and move to the land of Canaan. God could see into to the future to a time when there would be so many people born from Abram’s children, it would be as hard to count them as it would be to count the grains of sand on the beach, or the stars in the sky. You could say that God had a great plan for Abram: that through him all the people of the earth would be blessed.

Abram obeyed God. He left the place where he had lived for so long and started his journey to a distant land. Because of Abram’s obedience, he was greatly blessed as God had promised. Today we are still enjoying the blessings of Abram. Obedience brings blessings. Children of God must seek to know God’s will through reading His word and meditating on it. Make up your mind that wherever God leads, you will go.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
