DCLM Sincere Milk 21 November 2024 — The Command To Love
DCLM Sincere Milk 21 November 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — The Command To Love
Topic: The Command To Love
Text: 1 John 4:7-11
7Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
8He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
9In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
10Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
11Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
Key Verse: “Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.” 1 John 4:7
Message
God commands us to do so many things but when he commands us to love, He laid so much emphasis on it. The Bible says that we should not owe anybody anything but that we should love one another. The love you should have should be for everyone and not only your friends, relatives or church members. If you love only your friends, you’re the same with the Pharisees and pretenders.

God loves us even when we were sinners. Now He is asking us to show love to everyone because love is the greatest. We show love by being kind, helping the needy, preaching the gospel, praying for others, sharing good opportunities with others and many other good things. Above all, you must be born again for you to be able to show true love to others because you cannot give what you do not have. Write out three things you must do daily to show God’s love to your neighbours.

Prayer for today: Lord Jesus, help me to love others the way You love me.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
