DCLM Sincere Milk 15 July 2024 — The Cry Of Blind Bartimaeus

DCLM Sincere Milk  15 July 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. KumuyiThe Cry Of Blind Bartimaeus

Topic: The Cry Of Blind Bartimaeus

Text: Mark 10:46-52

46And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.

47And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

48And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

49And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.

50And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.

51And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.

52And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

Key Verse: “And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.” Mark 10:47

Message

Everyone is familiar with the word ‘cry’ which means to shout or scream, to express a need, fear, pain, or grief. Age, race, colour, social and economic circumstances are not barriers to crying. Why do you think babies cry most of the time? Babies cry when they are hungry, tired, uncomfortable, sick or in pain. Crying is not usually a sign of weakness but an action to express our needs and desire for a change in our situation.

Our Bible passage relate the story of a man who was desperately in need of solution to his problems. Bartimaeus was blind without helpers; a condition that turned him to a beggar. This man could not see but could hear that Jesus was passing by andwithout wasting time, he cried out to Jesus for help. He got his miracle of healing from Jesus Christ.

The action of Bartimaeus is a great lesson for us. We must make use of every opportunity we have to cry out to Jesus for deliverance from sin, sicknesses, poverty and other problems of life. We should not allow the noise of the crowd to discourage us from coming to Jesus- the Saviour of the World. Cry unto Jesus and He will help you.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
