DCLM Higher Everyday 12 May 2025 — The Day Of Reckoning

DCLM Higher Everyday 12 May 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — The Day Of Reckoning

Topic: The Day Of Reckoning

Text: Romans 14:11-13

11For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

12So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

13Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way.

Key Verse: “So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God” (Romans 14:12).

Message

Reckoning can be defined as the avenging or punishing of past mistakes or misdeeds. The day of reckoning therefore refers to the day of judgement when everyone will give account of all actions committed in their lifetime. This is where God will decree the destiny of every human being according to the good and evil of their earthly lives. Hence David Ausburger said, “The imperfection of justice in this life is the strongest proof that in the next world justice and vengeance will be fulfilled to the utmost.”

God will summon the great and small, young and old, men and women from all walks of life to account for how they had lived their lives. Christian youths are therefore advised to live their everyday lives with the day of reckoning in view. God’s word says, “As it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.” Think of what will be your lot when you die? Are you born again? Give your life to Christ now if you are not. Believers should preach to warn sinners of that dreadful day.

Quote: Give your life to Christ now

Challenge: How ready are you for the day of reckoning?

Prayer for today: May my works pass the test of time and eternity in Jesus’ name.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
