26Be not thou one of them that strike hands, or of them that are sureties for debts.
27If thou hast nothing to pay, why should he take away thy bed from under thee?
28Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.
29Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.
Key Verse: “Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men” (Proverbs 22:29).
Message
At age 17, Joni Eareckson Tada, after an accident, lost the usefulness of her arms and legs. After the incident, she learnt new skills and was determined to help others who had similar challenges. Besides, for many months, her condition made her learn how to paint with a brush between her teeth. She started producing paintings not made with hands. Yet, the remarkably high quality of the paintings attracted patronage from a lot of people. Aside from painting, she also became a broadcaster, succeeded in visiting 47 countries, wrote over 50 books and featured in several magazines as a regular columnist.
With diligence despite obstacles, Joni, in 2017, celebrated 35 years of broadcasting and 50 years of life in her wheelchair. A case of what God can do when you diligently do your part and trust in Him! Joni’s was a case of physical challenge but turned to great advantage because she looked beyond her negative condition, to see the possibilities that lay ahead. Do you have a challenge? With faith and good mental attitude, the top can be yours.
Quote: The top can be yours
Challenge: Resolve to diligently do every activity.
Prayer for today: My God, help me to put my best into all I do daily.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
