Text: Mark 1:35-39
35And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
36And Simon and they that were with him followed after him.
37And when they had found him, they said unto him, All men seek for thee.
38And he said unto them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for therefore came I forth.
39And he preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and cast out devils.
Key Verse: “And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.” Mark 1:35
Message
An early riser is someone who wakes up early in the morning, typically before other people. From our text, we learn that early in the morning, while it was still dark outside, Jesus would slip away to a quiet place to pray. It was just Him, the stars, and the peaceful world. Why do you think He got up so early to pray? Well, there are few reasons. Firstly, praying helped Jesus get ready for the day ahead. Just like we eat breakfast to fuel our bodies, Jesus prayed to fuel His spirit. Secondly, it made Him feel close to God, like talking to a best friend. And thirdly, it gave Him the strength to do incredible things, like healing the sick.

So, like Jesus, we can start our day with prayer to feel strong, close to God, and ready for the day’s activities and challenges. What Jesus did is called quiet time. It is when you wake up early to talk to God and listen to Him by reading and thinking about His word. If Jesus could do it, so can you. Quiet time helps you refuel your spiritual life every day. Make sure you have your Bible, a jotter and pen to have an effective quite time with God. Just like Jesus, we can find the same peace, strength, and closeness with God when we make prayer a priority in our lives.

Prayer for today: Oh Lord, teach me to seek You early and pray for strength.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
