Topic: The First Can Be Last!
Text: Matthew 19:27-30
27Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?
29And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.
30But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.
Key Verse: “But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first” (Matthew 19:30).
Message
In a classroom, all students start at the same level. Some students may start out strong, while others may struggle to keep up. But through hard work and dedication, any student can rise above the rest and take the top spot. In the same way, every born-again believer has the same opportunity to excel in their spiritual life. Believers must be dedicated to following Christ and doing His work. This means spending time in prayers, Bible studies and attending church services. It may not be easy, but the rewards are worth the effort.

Not all believers will experience the same level of success in their spiritual lives. Those who are lazy and lackadaisical in their devotion to God are headed for failure. They may start out strong, but they could eventually grow cold and fall behind. So be diligent in your pursuit of God, expending the effort needed to grow in your faith. When you do this, you can be assured of success in this life and the next. The choice is up to you.
Quote: Be diligent in your pursuit of God.
Challenge: Diligence with passion is the key – keep pushing.
Prayer for today: Dear God, please help me to be diligent in my work.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
