DCLM Higher Everyday 30 May 2024 — The Gifts Of The Spirit – Part 1
Topic: The Gifts Of The Spirit – Part 1
Text: 1 Corinthians 12:3-7
3Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.
4Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
5And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
6And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.
7But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
Key Verse: “Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit” (1Corinthians 12:4).
Message
The gifts of the Spirit are the divine abilities or enablement given to those who have received Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour, made holy and filled with the Holy Spirit. When a youth believes in Jesus through salvation, and is sanctified, the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in him to give him spiritual gifts. From our text, Paul, the apostle, reminds us of the need for believers to discover, develop, and deploy their gifts to bless others around them. These gifts are also to strengthen God’s followers to fulfil His ultimate will in saving sinners from the damnation of hell and for building the Church of God.
As a believer, you have a gift. Do you know your gift? Are you using your gift for the building up of the Church of God? The world needs your gift. The Church awaits the manifestation of your gift. You will not be fulfilled if you do not discover your gift in this world. God is counting on you and me to put our gifts to good use.
Quote: You have a gift.
Challenge: Your gift will open doors for exploits.
Prayer for today: Oh Lord, help me to discover my gifts, in Jesus’ name.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
