TOPIC: THE GOOD SHEPHERD
TEXT: JOHN 10:7-11
7Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
8All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
9I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
10The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
11I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
Key Verse: “I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep” (John 10:11).
MESSAGE:
‘Kalos’, the Greek word, translated ‘good’ describes that which is noble, wholesome, good and beautiful. Jesus says He is the “Good Shepherd” because His purpose as a Shepherd was different from that of the Scribes and Pharisees. They were out to cheat the people, to seek glory for themselves and lead the people to error and disobedience toward God. No doubt, the Lord called them hirelings. The Lord Jesus protects, guides, nurtures, and gives His life to save His friends.
The condition in our world today is worse. There are many false teachers around us. Some come in the name of Jesus, and some clearly oppose Him; but they have the same aim – to lead their followers to hell.
Jesus went about preaching the gospel, saving sinners and delivering the oppressed. He is the Good Shepherd that you must follow. A sheep that separates itself and ignores the instructions of the Master will soon be eaten up by the lions.
Are you the sheep of the Good Shepherd? Have you turned away from your bad behaviour to make Jesus your Saviour? This is the time to repent and accept Jesus as your personal Saviour and Shepherd.
Prayer: Lord, save me from false teachers around me and help me to follow You only.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)

4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
