DCLM Sincere Milk 26 September 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — The greatest mistake
TOPIC: THE GREATEST MISTAKE
TEXT: GENESIS 3:3-6
4And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
6And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
Key Verse: “And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat” (Genesis 3:6)
MESSAGE:
Mom has warned Tema to be very careful with the gas cooker. “It is better you don’t touch it at all if you cannot exercise enough patience to wait and close the control knobs tightly” she said.
It was a sad mistake that morning that Tema finished frying her pancake and hurried away, leaving the control loosely closed. The consequences of her mistake remain the saddest memory for Mrs. Anson’s family.
Did it ever occur to Eve how far the effect of her action will go? She thought of her own temporary pleasure without realizing what the consequences of her action would be. This is always the case when children choose to be selfish.
What was the result of Eve’s disobedience? First, her husband, followed by her immediate children, and finally, the whole of humanity became corrupted and separated from God, their Creator.

Can you imagine the hurt a single person’s conduct can bring? She might have regretted her disobedience, but that did not remove the ruin it brought on the human race.
Watch your actions. Your mistake can bring problems and troubles to others. Today, be very mindful of your words and actions. Bless, don’t break.
Prayer: Lord, please help me today that my words and actions will not hurt others.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
