DCLM Sincere Milk  19 August 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. KumuyiThe Holy Ghost-Our Guide

Topic: The Holy Ghost-Our Guide

Text: John 16:13-16

13Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

14He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

15All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

16A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.

Key Verse: “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.” John 16:13

Message

The promotional exam was just a week away so everyone was studying and preparing hard or so it seemed. Unknown to Emmanuel and Rachel, some of their classmates had found a way of getting the questions to some of the major subjects. Emmanuel and Rachel are friends of Jesus. They studied and continually prayed for wisdom and the Holy Spirit’s guidance as they prepared. They also asked questions and clarifications from their teachers. When the examinations came, they performed excellently because they depended on the Holy Spirit’s help. Unfortunately, their classmates failed woefully because the teacher got wind of their plans and changed the examination questions before the examination day.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
