Message
The lilies are erect plants that remain active throughout the year. They have leafy stems, scaly bulbs, usually narrow leaves, and single or many flowers. The flowers consist of six petal – like segments, which may form the shape of a trumpet, with more or less elongated tube. The flowers of some species of lilies have sweet scents and they occur in a wide variety of colours.

Lilies are among the oldest cultivated plants. During the 2nd millennium in Asia Minor where most of the story in the New Testament occurred, the bulb of the Madonna lily was cultivated for use in a medicinal ointment. Some other cultures raised the bulb of this specie for food. The Greeks and Romans grew it for ornamental (decorative) and medicinal purposes. During the time known as the Middle Ages, the Madonna lily was seen as a symbol of purity and fruitfulness. The sweet and innocent beauty of the lily flower has given it the symbol of fresh life and new birth.
Other characteristic symbols associated with the lily are love, passion, confidence, energy, joy, friendship, royalty, fanciful and spirituality. No wonder the Bible compares Jesus to the lily of the valley. Tomorrow we shall consider the relationship between Jesus Christ our Lord and the lily. As a friend of Jesus, you must shine forth and remain uncorrupted by the world like the lily in the mire.

Prayer for today: Lord, I thank you for making me a special and unique child.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
