TOPIC: The Lord Knows Your Situation (DCLM Daily Manna 12 September 2022)

TEXT: 2 Kings 14:17-28 (KJV)

17 And Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel fifteen years.

18 And the rest of the acts of Amaziah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

19 Now they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem: and he fled to Lachish; but they sent after him to Lachish, and slew him there.

20 And they brought him on horses: and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David.

21 And all the people of Judah took Azariah, which was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amaziah.

22 He built Elath, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.

23 In the fifteenth year of Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel began to reign in Samaria, and reigned forty and one years.

24 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord: he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.

25 He restored the coast of Israel from the entering of Hamath unto the sea of the plain, according to the word of the Lord God of Israel, which he spake by the hand of his servant Jonah, the son of Amittai, the prophet, which was of Gathhepher.

26 For the Lord saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter: for there was not any shut up, nor any left, nor any helper for Israel.

27 And the Lord said not that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven: but he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.

28 Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his might, how he warred, and how he recovered Damascus, and Hamath, which belonged to Judah, for Israel, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

KEY VERSE: “For the LORD saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter: for there was not any shut up, nor any left, nor any helper for Israel” (2 Kings 14:26).

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

When you look at birds in a cage, you will notice that these creatures entirely depend on those who feed them. They cannot help themselves; if grains and water are not supplied, they will die. Yet, they sit and sing with all their might. They never think that their keeper will fail them.

From the text, we read of the reign and death of Amaziah in Judah and the coronation of his son Azariah, who built Elath and restored it to Judah. During the reign of Jeroboam II, the son of Joash, he did evil in the sight of the Lord but he was used to restore the coast of Israel, from the entrance of Hamath to the sea of the plain. This was done to fulfil the word of the Lord, which He spoke through Jonah, the prophet. He had compassion on Israel because of their affliction and they had no one to help them. That being the case, God used Jeroboam to restore the coast so that Israel could return and inhabit the land without fear.

Believers in Christ, though assured of God’s continual favour, protection and other manifold blessings, may have experiences contrary to what they expect. Most times, these stormy situations are orchestrated by the devil to divert their attention from what the Lord has ordained them to do and to divert the plan of God for their lives.

The Lord, in His infinite knowledge and mercies, has made available to you many promises in the Bible, which you can hold on to in times of turbulence. You need to trust the Lord and rely on His precious promises no matter what betides. Remember, God knows your situation. His mighty providence cannot fail as long as you commit yourself and your needs to Him in faith.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
God’s providence never fails His children at any time.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
